This Friday our own Steve "The Rock" Ormond defends his IBF Intercontinental title on national TV

August 2, 2016

On August 5th, Nationally Televised Boxing returns to Philadelphia as future star David Benavidez 15-0 (14KO's) from Arizona takes on Jersey's own Denis Douglin 20-4 (13 KO's) and Murphys Boxing's own IBF 9th ranked Steve "The Rock" Ormond 22-2 (11 KO's) from Dublin, Ireland defends his IBF Intercontinental Lightweight Title against California's undefeated 10th ranked Alejandro Luna 20-0 (15 KO's) with the winner next in line for a world title shot. Steve Ormond comes off of a March 19 win in Boston that not only saw him win the IBF Intercontinental Title (a major stepping stone to a world title) but also raised $15,000 for the Claddagh Fund.

Murphys Boxing run by Ken Casey of the Celtic Punk Rock band Dropkick Murphys has strong roots in Philadelphia with their charity foundation The Claddagh Fund, which services Philadelphia area programs that support children, veterans, and alcohol and substance abuse treatment.

As we roll into Philadelphia, we are calling on friends and their contacts to round up support for Steve Ormond, Murphys Boxing and the Claddagh Fund. Sponsorship packages are available by contacting Mike Bloom at (310) 344-2293 or emailing mbloom@murphysboxing.com

For individual ticket sales, you can also contact Mike Bloom directly at (310) 344-2293. Bulk tickets can be dropped to you or you can provide will call names. Full list must be provided no later than noon on Friday.

Thank you for your support Philadelphia! Ken Casey

This promised electric fight can be seen on ESPN 2 Friday night.
