Murphys Boxing returns to Plainridge Park Casino April 28!

An exceptionally intriguing night of professional boxing is scheduled for Plainridge Park Casino in conveniently located Plainville, MA, moments away from Patriot Place, Saturday, April 28 featuring several local favorites as well as new faces on the Boston boxing scene.

New England Jr Middleweight Champ Greg “The Villain” Vendetti, 18-2-1, faces perhaps the toughest challenge of his career when he squares off with power punching Brazilian Alex Sandro Duarte, 13-4, in the 10 round main event. Stopping 10 of his opponents inside the distance, Duarte is now training with the highly regarded Fabiano Pena in Mexico City and has the upset in mind. Both fighters are come-ahead, compact brawlers with a nearly mirror image style, which will guarantee fireworks from the opening bell.

Highly regarded junior lightweight prospect William Foster III will pit his undefeated record against the likewise undefeated Sulaiman Segawa, originally from Uganda now fighting out of Silver Springs, Maryland, for the North American Boxing Association Junior Title in the super featherweight division. Rarely do a pair of young fighters risk their perfect records at this stage of their careers, an indication of their confidence and the high regard both camps hold for their fighters. Foster at 7-0 with 6 KOs has shown impressive speed and movement along with outstanding power while Segawa, with 3 KOs in 10 wins, has certainly faced the tougher opposition, beating 3 undefeated fighters as well as upsetting a 9-1 prospect in his last outing. This bout alone is well worth the price of admission, a chance to see a future world champ taking a defining step in their career.

Former amateur star and vicious puncher Abraham “Super” Nova, 10-0, 9 KOs will face tough veteran Fatinou Fassinou of Washington, DC in a special featured bout. Bringing an impressive record of 28-9-3, 15 KOs, Fassinou will prove the biggest test of Nova’s young career. Regardless of the level of competition he faces, Nova carries the equalizer- genuine one-punch knockout power in both hands.

Boston favorite Ryan “The Polish Prince” Kielczewski will return to the ring in a 6 round bout. At 27-3, Ryan K is still on the verge of world title contention. Always a crowd pleaser with lightning fast combinations and amazing defense, Ryan’s faithful fans will turn out in big numbers.

Mike Ohan, Jr, 6-0, 4 KOs, will be in his first scheduled 6 rounder against tough veteran Bryan Goldsby of Atlanta. Improving every time out, Ohan is coming off an impressive one-punch knockout over durable journeyman Eric Palmer in Melrose in January. A former New England amateur standout, Ohan is quietly working his way up through the ranks in the hot welterweight division.

Undefeated Anthony Laureano of Hartford, CT will face West Palm Beach, FL’s Tobias Green, 7-1 in a dead-even match up of Jr Welterweights. At 6-0, Laureano feels he’s ready to step up in competition, and believes his punching power will make the difference against the finesse boxer from Florida.

The impressively talented Elvis Figueroa, 3-0, 1 ko will showcase his boxing skills against tough veteran Saul Almeida in a 4 round supermiddleweight bout. Coming off back to back draws against undefeated prospects in their home towns, Almeida is looking to upset the young prospect. Figueroa, trained and managed by the highly regarded team of Luis and Marilyn Rosa who also represent William and Charles Foster, will be making his first appearance on a Murphys Boxing show.

In the opening bout, Connecticut lightweight Oscar Bonilla will attempt to continue his winning ways after an exciting decision win over Kin Moy in January. Now 4-3-3, Bonilla is never in a bad fight, always coming ahead and exchanging with whoever is in front of him.
